Education.
If I ever had a bone to pick with the schooling I’ve been given, it’d be how contractive the material is. Although I am obviously grateful for the opportunity to go to class, I can’t necessarily say the mediums and media used would have been my first choice. Perhaps this has to do with the latest “definition” of myself. I am changing. My personality is changing, my interests are somewhat shifting, as are my realizations.
Without sounding spoiled, there are other means of obtaining information I wish I could have explored in the classroom. Documentaries, books, articles, interviews. Most of the novels chosen throughout high school and my college career were nothing to write home about. I’ve found there to be no choice but to feed my intellectual hunger on my own. Obviously it has been rewarding in it’s own way, but I can’t help but think ideas I have yet to embrace are sitting on the back-burner.
As long as the material I choose to digest stays within the curriculum guidelines, I don’t see an issue. I hope an unorthodox means of an education really begins to make it’s way to the forefront of the chalkboard-I know I would enjoy it.
